This document provides a list of minimum hardware requirements and usable hardware. If you have hardware that matches the requirements below but is not performing well (e.g. printers with issues printing barcodes, scanners that don't hold a charge), please let us know and plan to replace them.
Computers
SMRT supports both Windows and Mac at the Point of Sale. SMRT is web-based and can be accessed via any computer with a Chrome-based browser for viewing reports, printing statements, and other office-related tasks. To use SMRT, your computer should have at least 4GB of RAM and a dual-core 2.5 GHz CPU.
The minimum screen resolution is 1024x768, but we recommend using 1920x1280.
Windows
Windows 10 or higher is required. Windows 8 support is very limited.
32 and 64 bit supported
Laptops, Microsoft Surface Tablets and Desktops are supported
Mac
Mac OSX 10.11 (El Capitan) or higher.
Native support for both Apple Silicon and Intel 64 bit processors
MacBooks and Desktops supported
Internet Speed Requirements
SMRT requires a minimum internet connection speed of 10 Mbps download and 5 Mbps upload for each store, regardless of the number of stations. Although SMRT can function with slower speeds, connections at these speeds are often unstable. While 4G and 5G routers are supported, their stability may depend on your environment and they may not be as reliable as cable connections.
Mobile Devices
For each delivery device, you'll need a phone or tablet with a cellular data plan. If you're only using the device for racking, a cellular plan is not necessary as long as there is wifi coverage in the store. The device must meet the following requirements.
iOS:
iOS 15 minimum, iOS 16+ recommended.
iPhone 8 minimum, iPhone 12 or newer recommended
iPad (5th generation) minimum, iPad (9th generation) recommended
iPad mini 4 minimum, iPad mini (6th generation) recommended
iPad Air 2 minimum, iPad Air (5th generation) recommended
Any version of iPad Pro supported, 3rd generation or newer recommended
Android:
Android 8.0 minimum, Android 13+ recommended.
The following android devices have been tested with SMRT, but most devices with a backwards facing camera should work (for racking and delivery):
Samsung Galaxy S22 5G
Google Pixel 6 Pro
OnePlus 10 Pro
Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra.
At least 8GB of storage on the device (and, it's assuming you don't start putting other big apps or media on the device).
Galaxy A53 is explicitly NOT supported.
