What Is Batched Lot Control?

Batched Lot Control is a system for organizing and tracking items through the cleaning and assembly process in batches called lots. Each lot represents a group of items that move through production together.

Why It Matters

  • Ensures first-in, first-out processing (oldest items cleaned first).

  • Prevents newer orders from jumping ahead of older ones.

  • Helps prioritize by route, store, or due date using lot naming.

  • Speeds up order completion by keeping items grouped.

  • Reduces lost or forgotten items in the workflow.

How It Works

  1. Items are grouped into lots based on rules (like department, route, etc.).

  2. Each lot has a name and number (e.g., Star 1, Triangle 2).

  3. A lot starts as Open and collects items as orders are closed.

  4. When the lot hits a threshold (like 50 items), it is Closed:

    • A receipt is printed listing all items.

    • The lot enters processing and assembly.

  5. When all items in the lot are assembled, the lot becomes Complete.

Key Benefits

  • Keeps work organized by grouping items.

  • Maintains due date discipline.

  • Makes assembly more efficient, since grouped items arrive together.

  • Allows manual tracking and closing of lots when needed.

  • Offers a visual report showing lot progress and item status.
